Schedule for the Palio on Tuesday, August 18

The Palio di Siena of August 16, 2026, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM, has been postponed once again until Tuesday, August 18, due to rain falling on the tufo of the Piazza del Campo, as required by Article 90 of the Palio regulations.

Due to new rainfall in Siena on Monday, August 17, the Corteo Storico and Palio could not proceed. Weather permitting, these will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18, at the same times.

At 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM, the cannon will be fired for the first and second warnings. At 4:10 PM, the course will be cleared for the mounted Carabinieri at 4:45 PM.

The Corteo Storico enters Piazza del Campo at 4:50 PM. The horses emerge from the Cortile del Podestà at 19:00 for the Palio.

From 16:00 to 18:00, access to the square is restricted to Via Dupré, up to the maximum permitted number of people.

Finally, here are the 10 Contrade participating in the Palio di Siena in honor of the Madonna Assunta: Selva, Chiocciola, Oca, Nicchio, Lupa, Istrice, Torre, Aquila, Onda, and Giraffa.
