Leocorno wins the Provaccia, Istrice and Civetta don’t participate

The Provaccia started with considerable delay because some contradaioli from Civetta had started a protest because their horse, presented as usual in the Entrone, was rejected by the municipal veterinary commission. The protest intensified and some contradaioli went on strike. Around 9.15 am, the contrada’s captain intervened and the horse was again escorted to its own stable. The contradaioli followed.

With just over 30 minutes delay, the Provaccia was held. Also Istrice, with Schietta, was absent from the Provaccia.

Furthermore, there is nothing to say about changes of fantini since there were none. Mossiere Bircolotti called the contrade in the reverse order of last night between the ropes: Lupa, Drago, Torre , Bruco, Chiocciola, (Civetta), (Istrice), Leocorno, Valdimontone and Pantera as rincorsa.

As previously reported, Antonio Mula has been nicknamed Shardana.

So we only saw 7 horses between the ropes. A good alignment is soon found and Pantera enters. A good start from Torre, Lupa and Chiocciola. Lupa turns first in San Martino and then slows down. Leocorno passes at a light canter who will win the Provaccia with Andrea Coghe detto Tempesta on Volpino.
