Watching the Palio tonight?
For the first time in years, the Palio will not be broadcast via the Rai. This has some consequences since La7 cannot be received in Belgium (and perhaps other countries?).
The new contract between the Consorzio Per La Tutela Del Palio Di Siena and La7 also provides for the broadcast to be streamed. La7 will do this through their website. We have tested this regularly in the last few days and everything seems very stable and the picture is very good. Although the question remains what will happen when everyone wants to see the Palio…
Alternatives are the live streams of the local channels SienaTV and Canale3. In the past, these were closed during the Palio at the request of the Rai. We do not know whether La7 asked the same question. But they are valid alternatives.
Gazzetta di Siena also broadcast all the prove via their website. Who knows, they might do the same at the Palio. Finally, there was also talk that the livestream of La7 would also be on ilpalio.org. It is not clear whether this will actually be the case. If there are any streams, we will share them in this post.
What is certain is that there will be live streams. Which one will work best will be to discover.
