Palio August 2025: fate is kind to Leocorno, Onda, Civetta, Valdimontone

Leocorno, Onda, Civetta, Valdimontone. These are the four contrade that were “kissed” by lot, along with Pantera, Tartuca, Drago, Bruco, Giraffa and Aquila, who participate by right.

The first official act for the Palio dell’Assunta was completed with the drawing of the contrade. In addition to Pantera and Aquila, who were already present, another rivalry was formed, namely Leocorno and Civetta, both of whom were drawn.

Five contrade will ride a second Palio in 2025: Pantera, Tartuca, Drago, Bruco and Valdimontone.

As for “who drew who”: Aquila drew Leocorno, Pantera drew Onda, Torre drew Civetta, and finally Istrice drew Valdimontone.

On the second floor of the Town Hall, the flags of the non-participating Contrade were hung, in order: Selva, Chiocciola, Oca, Nicchio, Lupa, Istrice. Lastly, on the second floor, the flag of Torre was raised, which thus suffers the second exclusion.

After the operation, the ten Captains of the Contrade who will participate in the Palio of August 16, 2025, communicated to the Mayor the confirmation of Renato Bircolotti as Mossiere. According to article 31 of the “Regulations for the Palio”, the nomination is up to the Municipal Council, which will confirm it in all probability at the Municipal Council.
